Research Summary

Myungbo Shim studies topological and algebraic structures in supersymmetric field theory and string theory, especially where three-dimensional gauge theories meet vertex algebras and integrable systems. Recent work on affine W-algebras and Miura maps from 3d N=4 quiver gauge theories develops the algebraic side of this correspondence, while work on Teichmuller TQFT, tetrahedron equations, q-opers, and open spin chains develops the integrable and topological side. The broader theme is that dualities of supersymmetric field theories can often be made concrete as relations among TQFTs, vertex algebras, and quantum-integrable models.
